Bahama Hurricane Shutters

The Curb Appeal and Color of Hurricane Shutters

With the wide variety of hurricane shutters available in today’s market, the choices can seem overwhelming. Your decision-making factors may include price, ease of deployment, and curb appeal. At Brevard Shutter, we understand that you have many choices facing you which is why we have a team onsite at our showroom to answer all of your questions including which shutters are best for curb appeal. In this blog, we also want to answer your questions regarding your hurricane shutter color choice.

Curb Appeal and Hurricane Shutters

Bahama Hurricane ShuttersIf curb appeal is important to you when making your hurricane shutter selection, then there are two main options available to you – Bahama shutters and Colonial shutters. Bahama shutters offer a Caribbean flair to the exterior of your home giving it the feel of a tropical destination, not just a house. In addition, they offer privacy and heat reduction!

Colonial Hurricane ShuttersColonial shutters also add curb appeal to your home giving it a sophisticated, yet welcoming look. These shutters are particularly great in that they offer security to your home while still looking appealing. You can deploy them for added protection even while you are away on vacation, whether or not it is hurricane season.

Does Color Matter?

We all have our favorite colors. They are reflected in the color schemes inside our homes, the clothes we wear, and even the exterior colors we choose to paint our homes. When adding Bahama or Colonial shutters, you will want to choose a color that compliments the color of your home. How do you know which colors will look right together?

A good rule of thumb is to go to your local paint store and grab a color wheel. Complementary colors are opposite of each other on the color wheel. You can also choose to simply use colors within the same color field, using varying shades, such as a very light whitish-gray for the body of your home, a medium gray for your shutters, and a dark gray for your trim. It is completely up to you, but if you would like help, a paint professional can steer you in the right direction!
